COVID-19 Update #2
As you know, the effects of the COVID-19 virus are bringing much change to the daily lives of the American people. The threat for us in Lassen County is very real and present. If you have health issues, a compromised immune system, or are over 65 years old, I trust that you will take seriously the proper precautions that have been widely publicized. For the latest local updates: Lassen County Public Health: www.lassencountyhealth.org; www.sierradailynews.com, www.susanvillestuff.com, or tune to our local radio station.
Please be wise in the sources you utilize and respond to! Again let me remind you, please take caution and do not under react and dismiss this concern as "overblown". On the other hand, don't overreact and respond in fear or anxiety. God is still on the throne. And please, do not be critical of others who are responding differently than you. We're not in control of anything, but we do serve the One who is in control of all things! Let that bring you hope. We are diligently seeking to honor what our government officials tell us, but know at the same time we are called to shepherd God's people and serve those in need. Please pray for us as we seek to do both in the best possible way. As for now, these are the next steps for Community Church. We feel that these precautions are prudent and in the best interest of all those who call Community Church their home. Please read the letter thoroughly.
OUR NEXT STEPS...
For now, the church office is closed. However, staff will be working from home. That means your calls will be answered and/or your messages received. The phones will be forwarded and you can expect a response from the church office. We don't want to overload you with updates and emails, but our greatest desire is to stay connected.
For now, we will temporarily suspend our regular Sunday worship services and all weekly ministries and activities. Both March 22nd and March 29th Sunday services (including worship) will be streamed on Sundays at 9:00am on our Facebook page. They will remain on the Facebook page and be posted on our YouTube channel as usual. The Apple Podcast will also be up on Sunday. Visit our BRAND-NEW website for links to all of the above. www.communitychurchofsusanville.com
Ministry leaders will be checking in with you. AWANA kids should continue working on their books and learning their verses. Teens will be hearing from their small group leaders, as will the adults who are in small groups. We will do our best to keep in touch with you all.
There will be a daily email of prayer requests. It will go out late in the afternoon. We've implemented a new email just for prayer requests. Send your requests to: firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also submit your prayer request via the new website: www.communitychurchofsusanville.com/prayer.
We are waiting to hear from our local agencies and school districts as to how we can best come alongside them and help. We'll let you know about any opportunities. Let's especially keep an eye on our elderly friends and neighbors.
We are holding back any new expenditures, focusing on our fixed obligations: staff, building/utilities, and missionaries. If you don't already, begin online giving; it's safe, secure, and can be done anytime. Go to www.communitychurchofsusanville.com/give, for the online options and follow the prompts. Despite the circumstances, ministry continues. Your continued support, investment, and commitment to your church family is greatly appreciated. You can also mail your tithes, gifts, and offerings to the church; P.O. Box 1059 Susanville, CA. 96130.
Pray for God to intervene and suppress this outbreak affecting our community, nation, and world!
Let's use the phone and check in on one another and be vigilant to helping those in need. Do your best to stay healthy and safe. Again, share your hope and faith in Jesus as the opportunity arises.
I trust this will be short lived and we'll all be back together soon.
Pastor Rick Conrad
